Defining pathology : In the field of medicine known as pathology, diseases are studied and diagnosed by examining surgically removed organs, tissues, bodily fluids, and, in some cases, the entire body (autopsy). A bodily specimen's gross anatomical composition, the appearance of the cells using immunological markers, and the chemical signatures in the cells can all be taken into account. The related scientific study of disease processes , known as pathology, looks at the causes, mechanisms, and severity of disease.
